Colleen Reed

Colleen Reed is the founder of American College Consulting. Everyday she gets to do what she loves — helping young people get into their dream schools.

Colleen’s journey to becoming an education consultant started when she was a student at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She loved the diverse student body, the intellectually curious culture on campus, and the lifelong friendships she still cherishes to this day.

After college, Colleen led educational tours for high school groups in Washington, D.C. and met thousands of young people from across the United States.

Along the way she married her Canadian lacrosse-playing boyfriend (also a Brown alumnus) and moved to Canada. Colleen became a high school teacher and taught Canadian History and English for several years.

Colleen kept her strong connection to her alma mater. As an alumni interviewer for Brown, she met countless high school students and listened to them talk about why they wanted to attend the university and what they wanted to do with their lives.

After 20 years of interviewing prospective students, she started American College Consulting in Toronto in 2008. As a mother who has sent her own daughters stateside to study, Colleen has the experience needed to take the worry out of applying to U.S. schools.
